When you woke up this morning, did you look outside on a beautiful snow-covered world? Did you have a delicious breakfast and a hot cup of coffee? Did you connect with a friend or family member? Did you help someone who really needed it? Did you read a new book or one of your old favorites? Did you accomplish a task that you had been putting off forever? Did you remember a trip you took and smiled when you thought of the fun you had? You know, it does not have to be Thanksgiving, the holiday we dedicate to being thankful, for us to be grateful for all God has given us. In fact, we should practice thankfulness every day. Many of us have developed this “attitude of gratitude” by writing daily in a gratitude journal. I think I first heard of this practice from Oprah back in the 1990’s. Personally, I do not do this, but I do remember to thank God every night in my prayers for all he has given me. However you want to show gratitude to God, for all He has given us, is a personal choice. This Bible verse is especially meaningful when considering His gift of His son Jesus.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
